I haven't posted in a while - to be honest I'm really not much o a blogger! But I thought I should post an update on what I've been up to as it's been months since my last post! So here's my recent life jammed into a very tiny nutshell!
Work: I'm still working full time at Dohertys Gym for Tony Doherty, my main projects being graphic design for Arnold Classic Australia and Arnold Classic Asia. It's a truly amazing job, which doesn't actually feel like work - it's just my life, it's what I DO! So I am very lucky to have a great job with lots of rewards that I enjoy.
Check out the Arnold Classic Asia here: arnoldclassicasia.com
Travel: Last month I had the amazing opportunity to travel with Tony to South Africa for the Arnold Classic Africa! I had a great time, especially on the Safari we went on after the event. I always love travelling, it's probably the one thing I want from life. I want to see the world, and experience everything I can, the good and the bad.
Africa also has a lot of amazing vegetable dishes so I didn't go hungry at all!
You can scroll through the pics on my Instagram: www.instagram.com/simi.collins
Personal Training: I have finished my training, and I am a fully qualified PT now! I just need to save a few hundred dollars for insurance before I can train anyone. Hopefully soon! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via the tab at the top of the page.
Posing Coaching: I have started private posing coaching, which I am REALLY enjoying. I love finding new ways to teach posing and body awareness based on my dance background and experience competing. I'm available to help with figure, fitness and physique posing for most federations. See the tab above for more info!
Training: I have been working with Coach Ben Lustig from CrossFit Moreland pretty much all year, working mostly on the main lifts (squat, deadlift and bench) and increasing my strength, but I've been noticing amazing changes in my physique through this style of training. I've made leaps and bounds in my progress, but more on that to come. Anyone looking for a great coach I highly recommend Ben, he's available for online coaching or 1 on 1: firstname.lastname@example.org
Nutrition: Well, I'm still vegan, still alive, and still gaining muscle! The next blog post is going to be all about what supplements I use or recommend using for different circumstances to assist and maximise your goals. I advocate for these, and they are by no means "necessary" to be a healthy, fit vegan, however I do believe, due to the research available and my own experience, that they can be very beneficial for athletes or those working on specific goals in their health and fitness. I use and recommend PranaON: pranaon.com
Dogs: I love my dogs! Lately I think they've taken over my snapchat and Instagram account! Recently, I found a lump in my Sally's ear, which is likely to be a mast cell tumour (the most dangerous kind of cancer that dogs and cats can get) We're still waiting on more tests to find out for sure. She is actually otherwise very happy and healthy, so we are hoping that finding it early might have bought her a few more years yet. Mast cell tumours are never benign, so removal is the only way to stop them spreading, unless it already has. I am pretty confident that it hasn't spread yet, but this is the reason why we chose to do the tests. No point removing her ear if the rest of her body is already sick.
I believe when it comes to cancer, prevention is the best "cure". Sally is a rescue, and while we can't control what her body endured in the past, we can control her present and future. I already cook all her meals for her, I don't use harmful chemicals to clean the house or dishes, but I know there's still more I can do to help her, not only recover but hopefully prolong her life, lessen the chance of the cancer returning, or slow the development of it.
This video from Phivo, creator of Augustine Approved, highlights some great tips to keeping your dogs healthy and happy:
I use Faith for Sally, as it's the ONLY thing that I have found to control her episodes of excessive and unexplainable itching. I have also seen SuperHeal in action when I used it to treat and cure occurring cysts on one of my rats. I have used SuperBoost in the past, however my use of it has been sporadic, but I intend to be more diligent with using it now. There's also plenty more I can that are mentioned in this video. I'll keep you all updated on Sally.
If you want to try out Augustine Approved for yourself, I recommend the starter kit, or simply start with some SuperBoost and follow the recipe on the website: augustineapproved.com.au
