Featured in The Vegan Box in October, The Chocolate Yogi's Frothy Toffee is vegan chocolate that changes the world... and not just because it tastes AMAZING!
teI first tried the Chocolate Yogi products at the Melbourne screening of What the Health, volunteering on the ALV stand where I was asked to sample and sell some of the bars. I had seen them around, but never tried them before. My first impressions were of the appealing packaging, which looked really bright and fun, and the creatively quirky names (such as Happy Thoughts, Head in the Clouds and Peppermint Jazz...)
I was asked to open and cut up one of each bar. Busting open the first package, a beautiful cacao scent washed over my senses, and I was intrigued by the decadent crystals sprinkled on the back of each bar. I had never seen anything like it, it looked beautiful! Giving in to temptation almost immediately, I tried a little of each bar, and was blown away! Such a smooth, creamy texture is rare in vegan chocolates, and the sweet, toffee crunch from the crystals on the base created a unique and extremely satisfying flavour combination.
Immediately assuming I was eating something delicious yet horribly bad for me, I flicked the packet over and read the ingredients. To my amazement, there was no refined sugar, no palm oil, no preservatives, no weird ingredients, no allergens from nuts or soy, and only raw and organic natural ingredients. From then on - I was hooked!
Frothy Toffee is by far my favourite flavour, although its a tough call to make! I love the creamyness, the nostalgic feeling of eating white chocolate (which I used to love as a kid!) mixed in with an amazing toffee crunch. The bar is just something so unique and sensational, creating amazing flavour and texture combinations that no-one else is doing.
The ingredients are all things I consider to be healthy:
Certified Organic Ingredients: Raw Cacao Butter, Coconut Sugar, Coconut Flour, Desiccated Coconut, Vanilla Bean Powder. Cacao solids 35% min.
This makes it perfect not only for vegans, but those who want to avoid processed ingredients, chemicals, preservatives, colourings, flavourings, and allergens.
But The Chocolate Yogi doesn't stop there. Not only is their chocolate vegan, allergy free, raw, organic, and "orangutan friendly" by avoiding the use of palm oil, they donate 10c from each bar directly to Sea Shepherd, and 5c from each Freddo sized "Oscar Bar" to the Orangutan Project. This means you can eat chocolate and help make the world a better place!
